Chapter 06
Where to Find Trend Researcher and Social Insights Jobs in India
By Influish Editorial Team · Published · Last updated
Short answer
Few employers advertise a job called “trend researcher”. Search instead for the half-dozen titles the work hides under, on established job portals, company career pages and agency websites, and check government portals for contractual analyst roles. Many first roles also come from approaching agencies directly with a portfolio. We do not list vacancies; this chapter is about how to search.
The hardest part of finding research work is that it is under-labelled. One company’s “content researcher” is another’s “social media executive (insights)” and a third’s “strategy intern”. So the search has to be wide on titles and narrow on duties: read what the job actually involves before deciding whether it fits.
Which job titles should I search for?
| Search for | Usually means |
|---|---|
| trend researcher · trend analyst · social trends analyst | Feed-based trend spotting and reporting (closest match) |
| content researcher · content research intern | Finding ideas, references and trends for a content team |
| social listening analyst · social media listening | Query-based monitoring with a listening tool |
| social insights analyst · consumer insights (social) | Interpretation-heavy listening and audience research |
| social media analyst | Anything from reporting to listening; read the duties |
| strategy intern · planning intern (agency) | Research support for pitches and campaigns |
Where are these jobs advertised?
- Established job portals and professional networks. Use the titles above, filter by city and experience, and set alerts.
- Company career pages. Agencies, publishers and large consumer brands often post research and strategy roles on their own sites first.
- Agency websites and social accounts. Smaller social and creator agencies often announce openings on their own Instagram or LinkedIn pages. Verify the account before applying.
- Government portals. The National Career Service is the government’s free job portal. Public bodies have also advertised contractual social media analyst roles, such as a past MyGov listing by the Digital India Corporation (closed March 2024).
- Direct approach. Email a short note and one relevant portfolio project to agencies whose work you admire. This is how many first research roles are found, because small teams often hire before they advertise.
How do I search more precisely?
Google’s documented operators help narrow results to real postings: quotation marks for exact titles, site: to search one domain, a minus sign to exclude words and after: to see recent pages. For example:
"trend researcher" India after:2026-09-01"social listening analyst" (Mumbai OR Gurugram OR Bengaluru)"content researcher" intern -course -training
Agency, brand, publisher or government: where should I apply first?
| Employer | Why apply | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Social or creator agency | Most research-heavy junior roles; fast learning | Project A (trend log) and Project C (pitch) |
| Insights or listening firm | Structured analyst training | Project B (listening report) |
| Media publisher | Trend work tied to daily content | Project A, plus examples in their style |
| Brand in-house team | Depth in one category | Project C for a brand in their category |
| Government or public body | Contractual, often clearly specified roles | Follow the listing’s format exactly; meet stated qualifications |
How do I apply safely?
- Apply only through the company's own site, an established portal, or an account you have verified belongs to the company
- Never pay a fee to apply, train or be “activated”
- Do not share bank details, OTPs or ID documents before a written offer
- Be cautious with forms passed around in comments or messages; check the link appears on the company's official profile
- Keep a record of where and when you applied
Before you send anything, check your portfolio against the project briefs and rehearse with the interview chapter.
